This year is a European Championship year for the women’s softball team.
One of our goals this year is to improve on our last European standings.
As apart of our build-up to the Europeans we will be participating in a few tournaments.
The first being the London cup held June 5-7 at Farnham Park, UK’s first ever dedicated baseball and softball complex which opened in 2013. We have used this tournament in the past and I believe the quality of teams attending this event will take us one step closer to achieving this years goals.
The team will also attend the Baltic Open help June 13-14 in Skövde, Sweden. We attended this event for the first time last year. Our objective for this season is to play as many games as we possibly can and expose our hitters to a wide variety of pitchers and allow our defence time to work our game plans. It is also a great opportunity for our pitchers to develop and learn more about their skill and challenge their abilities.
These tournaments are only a small part of our process towards success.
I also plan on holding specific team building events along with a few training camps and possibly more games against local selection teams and men’s 2nd division teams.
I have named two different teams to attend the separate events. Although there are some key players within the squad, I plan on giving squad members every opportunity possible to be a part of the 17 players named for the European Championships.
